FIVE THINGS PEOPLE OFTEN FORGET IN THEIR CAMPING PACKS

in News

Ah, camping! Who doesn’t love getting away for a few days, spending some time in nature and isolating themselves from all the chaos and stress of living in the city? Now more than ever, we need some time off from our fast-paced lives, and camping is a great way to wind down. Being in nature gives us the time and opportunity to reflect and rest our brains a little. However, you can’t just haphazardly pack your bags and go camping. You need to prepare yourself for this adventure and think carefully about the essentials you need to pack. To ensure you have everything you need, we’ll tell you which five things people often forget in their camping packs. Hopefully, this way you won’t make any camping mistakes.

1. SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY

Unfortunately, not even finding the perfect camping spot can save you from bug bites and sunburns. Of course, before you head out, you should find a great camping ground without any dangerous beasts. For example, Hamilton, ON has great camping spots you should consider. But, no matter where you choose to set up camp, you’ll need a bit of protection.

Spending your free time in nature is a great way to get away from everyday stress. But unfortunately, it’s not all rainbows and butterflies – it’s also sunrays and bugs. The sun is dangerous and there are lots of bugs out there, so you need to beware. So, whether camping is your spring break or a family getaway, you should be fully ready for the great outdoors.

You shouldn’t even be walking around the city with no SPF on your face, and camping is definitely no exception! Get a good sunscreen that will protect you from getting sunburned.A lot of people stay away from sunscreen because they think it’s not important. However, this is a crucial item to bring in your camping pack. Nothing ruins a trip more than a nasty sunburn. So, don’t shy away from using a lotion with a high SPF. Other than that, people often forget bug spray in their camping packs. Don’t make this mistake! This is another essential when you’re planning to spend days in nature surrounded by all of its creatures. You never know which bugs are hiding just around the corner.

2. DUCT TAPE

Yet another thing that many people forget in their camping packs is duct tape. Try your best to remember to pack this small but very useful item in your bag. Duct tape can be used for a million different things in every home, but it also comes in handy when you’re spending time outdoors. It doesn’t matter if you’re a solo female traveler or a big group of friends going camping – you need to be prepared for everything either way.

Many mishaps can surprise you on a camping trip, and duct tape can help you out in certain situations. For example, if your tent or sleeping bag tears – don’t despair! Simply grab the tape and mend it. It’s a quick and easy fix. Other than that, you can keep your tablecloth from flying away by securing it with duct tape or seal your food containers to avoid leakages. See? This small tool can save you in various sticky situations, so don’t forget to bring it on your camping trip.

3. WATER

This probably seems like a very obvious thing that no one could forget. However, it’s often the most obvious items that we tend to overlook. Bringing water to a camping trip is of huge importance. Not only do you need it to stay hydrated and refreshed, but you’ll also need some water for cleaning.

Water is something you simply can’t forget in your camping pack! Remember that you don’t only need drinking water, but also some for cleaning and cooking. Many people remember to bring drinking water because they know they can’t survive without it. However, many of them forget that you also need fresh water for practical use. Water will come in handy for rinsing your toothbrush, washing the dishes and even cooking. Also, it’s easy to miscalculate and bring less water than you’ll need. To avoid this mistake, we suggest bringing double or triple the amount you think you’ll need. After all, you can never have too much water.

4. A FIRST-AID KIT

While it is very fun going on an adventure and sleeping outdoors for a few days, camping trips can be a bit risky. There are a lot of things that can go wrong while you’re in nature, so it’s important to be ready for anything. You never know what nature can throw at you, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Because scrapes and scratches are very common when you’re spending time outside, bringing a first-aid kit is a smart idea.

Because injuries can be an unpleasant surprise, it’s best to have your fully stocked first-aid kit by your side. If you’re someone who suffers from allergies, we highly recommend getting our allergy pack and including it in your first-aid kit. Many people think don’t think about the risks of camping, so first-aid kits are unfortunately among the things people often forget in their camping packs. That’s why we’re here to warn you and remind you to put this on your camping checklist: Band-Aids, topical antibiotics, Aloe Vera gel, etc.

5. TRASH BAGS

Last but not least, you need to pack trash bags with your other camping gear. People tend to forget about littering, and packing trash bags slips their minds. When you’re packing for an exciting camping trip, trash is probably the last thing on our mind. That’s how people end up stuck with a bunch of trash and nothing to put it in. So, putting trash bags in your camping pack will help you avoid an uncomfortable situation.

MAKE A PACKING LIST AND GET STARTED!

There are many things people often forget in their camping packs and the reason is simple  they don’t write things down. When you start packing without a plan, or a list, it’s easy to forget some essentials. After all, we’re only human and it’s normal to forget things. But, if you want to avoid forgetting any important camping things, we suggest writing down everything you think you might need on your trip a few days before you start packing. Good luck!
